PresentationTimer is one Room with the right views for each role.

Start with one shared timing Room, keep one Host in control, and give every other person the view that matches their job. This overview explains the model before you move into setup, role-specific views, and live workflows.

The short version

One Room holds the live timing state. Host controls it. Every shared view follows it without becoming another control source.

Core model

One Room is the source of truth.

A Room is the shared timing workspace for one session. It holds the active timer, the ordered agenda, the Room timezone, messages, warning behavior, connected views, and the state that every device should follow.

A Timer is one segment inside that Room: Opening, Keynote, Break, Q&A, or Closing. When a session has several segments, the ordered collection is the Agenda. You do not need a separate Room for each speaker, screen, or transition.

  • One Room keeps every view on the same active timer.
  • Each Timer represents one timed segment.
  • An Agenda describes the complete running order.
  • The Room timezone gives scheduled items one shared clock.

Roles

Give each person the right view.

The views are different surfaces over the same Room, not separate timers. Share only the surface a person needs and keep Host with the operator.

Workflow

A live session follows four steps.

  1. 01

    Create one Room

Use one Room as the timing source for the complete session. It can contain one timer or an ordered agenda of many segments.

  2. 02

    Prepare the timing plan

Rename timers, set durations, arrange the agenda, choose handoffs, and configure the Room timezone before the session starts.

  3. 03

    Open the right views

Keep Host for editing, messages, and outputs. Open Operator when a teammate needs a touch console for live timing, then open Display, Speaker, Moderator, or Agenda according to what each person needs to see.

  4. 04

    Run from Host

Run live timing from Host or Operator View. Host remains the workspace for editing, messages, and outputs. Other views follow the same Room.

Control boundary

Host changes the Room. Shared views report it.

Host is the full control workspace. It can start, pause, reset, select, edit, and correct timers, and it manages messages and outputs. Operator View can run live timing from a phone or tablet without those extra tools. Display, Speaker, Moderator, and Agenda stay read-only so several people can watch the same session without competing commands.

Keep this link private

Do not send the Host URL to speakers, attendees, or a projector. Treat Operator as a production control link, not a display link. Share the appropriate output for everyone else.

FAQ

Common documentation questions

Do I need a separate Room for every speaker or device?

Usually no. Create one Room for the complete session, then open the role-specific views on the devices that need them. The Room keeps the active timer and agenda state synchronized.

Which link should remain private?

Keep Host private. Treat Operator as a production control link as well, because it can start, pause, reset, and adjust timers. Display, Speaker, Moderator, and Agenda are the views intended for presenters, crew, and screens.

What is the difference between a Timer and an Agenda?

A Timer is one timed segment, such as Opening or Q&A. An Agenda is the ordered set of segments inside one Room, including their durations, timing rules, and handoffs.
